Betaine Hcl

Betaine hydrochloride is an acidic form of betaine, a vitamin-like substance found in grains and other foods. Betaine hydrochloride is recommended by some doctors as a supplemental source of hydrochloric acid for people who have a deficiency of stomach acid production.

Betaine hydrochloride is also used to treat abnormally low levels of potassium , hay fever, “tired blood” (anemia), asthma, “hardening of the arteries” , yeast infections, diarrhea, food allergies, gallstones, inner ear infections, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and thyroid disorders.

Betaine hydrochloride does not have many side-effects in most people. Nausea, stomach upset, diarrhea and a body odor all have been reported. I don't recommend betaine hydrochloride, but if it is helping and is not causing side-effects, it is not likely to harm you.

Betaine hydrochloride on broiler chickens when used alone or in combination with vitamin B12 . Betaine has been used in broiler nutrition for many years. Betaine improves production performance, to replace other methyl group donors; to assist birds during heat stress and to improve slaughter characteristics.

Betaine is commonly used in broiler, sow and aquaculture diets. The application of betaine in laying hen diets, however, is of increasing interest due to its cost effectiveness and the fact that it provides solutions for problems (e.g. fatty livers, wet litters and heat stress) which todays laying industry is facing.

In broiler nutrition, typically choline and methionine are replaced with betaine. Adding betaine will lead to reduced feed costs, and an improved growth and feed conversion ratio. Additional benefits are found in improved slaughter characteristics (more breast meat yield and less abdominal fat), preventing heat stress, and promoting better resistance towards coccidiosis.

Betaine and Broilers - betaine has many benefits to the broiler industry including:
1. Improved carcass yield.
2. Increased carcass yield and breast percentage.
3. Increase dressing percentage in 42 day old male broilers.
4. Improved weight gain and feed efficiency.
5. Improve performance under heat stress.

Betaine and Methionine Level - Betaine, when supplemented in a methionine deficient diet, can improve:
1. Growth rate
2. Feed conversion efficiency
3. Breast yield
